Pinelands Reserve is over 1.1 million acres of forested land. It offers the best hiking in New Jersey with hundreds of trails. Enjoy nature as you discover wild orchids, carnivorous plants and various wildlife. Wade streams. Sit under a tree on a rock and just relax. Getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Many of New Jersey State Parks have good hiking and/or biking trails. See historic sites. Explore forests. Each state park has a different topography to ensure you won't get bored. Monmouth Battlefiled State Park has easy even trails for leisurely walks or vigorous hikes. The trails are good for beginners. Hike by orchards, pastures and horse farms. Take a weekend for outdoor adventure. Get some exercise. Other state parks with notable hiking trails are High Point State Park and Hacklebarney State Park.

Round Valley Recreation in Lebanon is another good place to hike or bike. Pass by the Round Valley reservior with its beautiful glacier waters. There is wilderness camping here. So, take a weekend to getaway and enjoy nature at its finest.

New Jersey has 9 themed bike paths created by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. These bike paths journey through country towns, rolling hills and over streams. The Last Covered Bridge Ride Path goes over the Green Seargeant Covered Bridge which is the last covered bridge in New Jersey (hense, the name of the Bike Path). This is a particular challenging hilly ride. However, the views of breathtaking especially in the Fall of the year when the leaves are changing.
